Quick reference

Synthetic tables to quickly find a value, a status or a limit. For term definitions, see the Glossary.

Project statuses

A project goes through four statuses during its life. The status appears in the project file, on the Projects page, and is used as a filter in the calendar.

StatusMeaningWhen it triggers
DraftProject created but inspection not yet startedAt project creation
In progressInspection started, being entered or being producedAt inspection launch (consumes a credit)
CompletedInspection finished, report readyAt inspection finalization
SharedReport delivered to clientOn the Share action from the project file

None of these statuses is terminal: a project can return to a previous state if the inspection needs to be completed or the report revised.

Default BNQ severities

The default BNQ template provided by Lumos has 7 severity levels. These levels are defined in the template, not by the BNQ standard itself, and are customizable: an inspector can clone the template and adapt the number, labels and colors of severities to their practice.

The 7 default levels span the range from purely informational observation to a situation calling for urgent intervention. For the exact list, labels and color codes, open the template editor and consult the Severities section. See Severities.

If you are used to other tools on the market that impose 3 or 5 levels, note that Lumos does not have the same constraint. The template drives everything.

Inspection types and templates

Lumos does not impose a closed list of inspection types. You can build a template for any kind of inspection report your practice requires.

When an account is created, two preconfigured templates are available:

Preset templateUse
Pre-purchase (BNQ 3009 aligned)The standard for residential pre-purchase inspection in Quebec
Pre-deliveryBefore delivery of a new building, to identify items to be corrected by the builder

For any other inspection type (pre-sale, counter-expertise, commercial inspection, construction follow-up, etc.), clone an existing template or create a new one in the template editor. See Report Template.
